Cynthia Walker is a self-taught artist living in Westchester NY. She was born in New York
City, and was raised between the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Walker works predominantly in acrylic, pastels and recycled material.
In 1999, Walker debuted her KatoriKids Collection at "Inspirations," an art exhibition at
Exposure Gallery in Brooklyn, NY as well as a private one-woman show featuring the art
piece "Earth Mother and Child" in West Orange, NJ.
Two of her works, "Nighty Night " and"Journey" were selected in the City Without Walls 20th Annual Metro Show Juried Small Works Traveling Exhibition in 2001-2002. She also had an art piece displayed at a Regional Exhibition at the Bayonne Public Library Gallery in Bayonne,
Her message is to remind people that children are innocent and fragile, and we are
responsible for introducing them to experiences that are positive and inspirational. They
are always moving and reaching toward adventure and freedom. The children in her pieces
have their back toward the viewer. Her mission is to put a smile on the face of a child or an adult, even for a moment. The concept is inspiring and empowering. Her themes evoke feelings of playfulness, joy and a feeling of the unknown.
"I hope to see KatoriKids art pieces brighten up spaces where children play, learn, and
heal throughout the world."
